Can I Help

My experiences enable me to help in many different ways:
As an experienced AAC user (platinum standard) I can support individual students who are finding it difficult to move forward to the next level of communication. This can be done by, contacting me by e-mail or, I can make arrangements to visit at the students’ school environment.

In addition, I am able to give talks to the whole school, individual classes, universities and colleges about integration, my life as a disabled person or using AAC communication aids in a mainstream environment. I can also assist those people who support disabled students such as teaching assistants and parents.

If anyone is looking to hold a training course I can help. I have been involved with many different aspects of in house training including inset days, speech therapy courses for those specialising in AAC.

It is my belief that receiving an AAC communication aid is merely the first step. Many communication aids are complex and require a great deal of support. This is why so many users do not attain the standard of communication they are capable of. I want to help as many people as I can. This can mean assisting the individual student or helping those people who support them.

Recently, I was invited to address teaching staff at a school, who, were about to integrate a student from a local special school. The school wanted to be sure that they had sufficient knowledge and information to enable them to respond to the students’ needs.

As you can see, I am able to help in all sorts of ways. If you have a problem, contact me and I will do my best to help you.
